Hourly or salary?

Housekeepers, family assistants, gardeners and part-time roles are usually paid by the hour. Senior roles such as estate managers, house managers and many full-time nannies are paid an annual salary. Whichever you choose, household employees are generally covered by wage and overtime laws; check your state’s rules for domestic workers.

Benefits families offer

To hire and keep great staff, many families add paid time off and holidays, health insurance or a stipend, a year-end bonus, a car or mileage, a phone, and housing for live-in roles.
